Upcoming Exhibit: Alpenzoo 2026
Learn from Nature Series: Fine Art Macro Photography Meets Biodiversity & Conservation ● Reading Time: 5 min
An insect is easy to miss—until you’re close enough to see the architecture in its eyes, the velvet on its body, the quiet intelligence in the way it moves. Hidden Wonders is an invitation to slow down and notice what usually slips past us.
This spring, I’m bringing a calm, museum-style fine art exhibition to Alpenzoo Innsbruck: large-format macro portraits of insects from Austria and from around the world—presented with short, accessible context so anyone can enjoy the beauty and understand why these small lives matter.
What this exhibition is
Hidden Wonders is a premium fine art macro photography exhibition focused on insects—shown as portraits rather than “specimens.” You’ll see two clear sections:
Insects of Austria (close to home)
Insects of the World (farther away, equally astonishing)
The vibe is intentionally quiet, spacious, and gallery-like—a place to pause, look closely, and leave with a gentler perspective.
Why it matters
Insects are essential to healthy ecosystems—and they’re also some of the most misunderstood animals we share our world with. When we only see them as “weird” or “annoying,” it’s easy to ignore what’s disappearing.
This exhibition uses art + science + awareness to shift that perspective. The photographs pull you in with detail and color; the short info points help you connect the dots—pollination, biodiversity, interdependence.
What you’ll experience as a visitor
Large-format, museum-quality prints designed to feel immersive and calm
Fine detail that rewards slow looking (eyes, textures, patterns)
Short, approachable context next to the images (no heavy jargon)
A clear split between Austria and World sections, so the story feels easy to follow
If you’re bringing family: this is designed to be accessible for curious kids and adults alike—especially for anyone who normally wouldn’t stop to look at an insect twice.

Workshops (limited spots)
If you want a deeper experience, there will be two small-group workshops that pair beautifully together: Workshop A teaches you to see nature’s beauty, and Workshop B teaches you how to capture it.
Workshop A (Saturdays): “Small Wonders, Big Stories”: A gentle, beginner-friendly session that blends art, science, and perspective. You’ll learn a simple way to notice—how to look at small creatures with curiosity instead of reflex, and how to turn a quick encounter into a meaningful story.
Workshop B (Sundays): Macro Photography (workflow + ethics): A practical introduction to macro photography in the field: how to stabilize, shape light, and get sharp focus—plus an ethical approach to photographing insects with care.
