Dieses Porträt entstand bei mir zu Hause — auf meinem Balkon in Innsbruck. Die Spindel‑Gespinstmotte war nur etwa 10 mm lang, als sie auf einer Kannenpflanze landete, einer fleischfressenden Pflanze. Die violette Fläche mit den langen weißen Haaren, die man im Bild sieht, gehört zu ihrer Fangzone.
Das Faszinierende: Die Motte wirkte, als hätte sie genau gewusst, was sie tut. Sie setzte sich so, dass sie sicher war — strategisch, ruhig, ohne in Gefahr zu geraten. Nach dem Fotoshooting konnte sie wieder problemlos davonfliegen.
ENTDECKUNG
Auf den ersten Blick ist es das Muster, das hängen bleibt: ein weißer Körper mit schwarzen Punkten — wie ein Dalmatiner im Miniaturformat. In Kombination mit dem violetten Untergrund wirkt das Ganze wie ein kleines Stück Design, das zufällig in der Natur entstanden ist.
BEDEUTUNG
Für mich ist dieses Bild ein Reminder, wie nah das Besondere sein kann. Man muss nicht weit hinaus, um „Wildnis“ zu finden — manchmal reicht ein Balkon und ein Moment Aufmerksamkeit. Die Motte wird so zu einem kleinen Symbol für Timing und Intuition: den richtigen Platz wählen, kurz verweilen, dann weiterziehen.

PHOTOGRAPHIC STORY
This portrait was made at home, on my balcony in Innsbruck. The Spindle Ermine Moth — only about 10 mm in body length — landed on my pitcher plant (a carnivorous plant). The purple surface with long white hairs you see in the image is part of the plant’s trapping zone.
What struck me most was how deliberate the moth seemed. It chose a spot that felt strategic — calm, safe, and perfectly placed. After the photoshoot, it was able to fly away without harm.
DISCOVERY
The first thing you notice is the pattern: a white body sprinkled with black dots — like a tiny Dalmatian. Against the purple texture of the plant, it becomes a small, unexpected piece of natural design.
MEANING
To me, this image is a reminder that the extraordinary can be close. You don’t always need distance or wilderness — sometimes you just need attention. The moth becomes a symbol of timing and instinct: choosing the right place, resting briefly, and moving on.
