KÜNSTLERISCHE GESCHICHTE
Diese Aquarelle sind aus derselben Grundidee entstanden wie meine Makrofotografie: Wenn wir näher hinschauen, wird aus dem „Übersehenen“ etwas Kostbares. Als ich mit der Planung meiner Arthropoden‑Ausstellung begann, entstand gemeinsam mit der Gastkünstlerin Blanca Contreras die Idee, diese Welt nicht nur fotografisch, sondern auch malerisch zu interpretieren — als Ergänzung, die sich bewusst anders anfühlt: weicher, taktiler, handgemacht.
Jedes Bild ist ein echtes Unikat und entsteht in einem konzentrierten Prozess von etwa 6–8 Stunden. Dabei kommen unterschiedliche Aquarelltechniken zum Einsatz — unter anderem grobkörniges Salz, das Muster und Texturen erzeugt, die an natürliche Strukturen erinnern: Panzer, Flügel, Punkte, Schimmer. So wird aus Inspiration durch Arthropoden ein eigenständiges Kunstwerk, das Komplexität, Detailreichtum und Farben auf eine neue Weise sichtbar macht.
Diese Originale ergänzen die Fotografie im Shop bewusst: Sie bringen eine andere Art von Nähe mit sich — nicht durch optische Vergrößerung, sondern durch sichtbare Handarbeit, Materialität und die kleinen „Zufälle“, die Aquarell so lebendig machen.

ARTISTIC STORY
These original watercolors come from the same core idea as my macro photography: when we look closer, the overlooked becomes precious. While planning my arthropod exhibition, the idea emerged together with guest artist Blanca Contreras to interpret this world not only through photography, but also through painting — as a deliberate complement that feels different: softer, tactile, handmade.
Each piece is a true one‑of‑one original, created in a focused process of roughly 6–8 hours. Different watercolor techniques are used, including coarse‑grain salt to create patterns and textures that echo natural structures—armor, wings, spots, shimmer. The result is not a copy of a photograph, but an independent artwork inspired by arthropod biodiversity and the visual language of nature.
These originals intentionally expand the shop beyond photography: they offer a different kind of closeness — not through optical magnification, but through visible craftsmanship, materiality, and the small “happy accidents” that make watercolor feel alive.
DISCOVERY
Watercolor is a medium you can almost feel: pigment, paper, grain, chance and control. That’s exactly why it pairs so well with arthropods—up close, they also look like a blend of precision and wonder. These pieces invite you to notice not only detail, but texture, rhythm, and atmosphere.
